Itinerary
Day 1: Kochi to Munnar (Tea Estate and hill station)
Arrival at Kochi airport/ railway station where our representative will meet and greet you. Later drive on to Munnar. This beautiful hill station was once the summer capital of the British Government in India. The never ending vast expanse of tea plantations and the round the year moderate climate makes it a little haven for visitors. It is popular for its cool climate and tea plantation. This quiet little town boasts of many colonial bungalows,tea factories,wildlife sanctuaries and many lakes. Sprawling tea plantations,picture book towns,winding lanes and holiday facilities make this a popular hill station in south india.Munnar is also known as the Kashmir of South India. The day at leisure to enjoy your environs. Overnight at Hotel.
Day 2: Munnar
Visit to Rajamala house of the highly endangered mountain goats - the Nilgiri Thars. To Marayoor to visit the Muniyaras (Caves) which date back to the new stone age. On the way back visit the sandalwood forests and Lakkam water falls which is accessible by a short trek through the forest. Overnight at Munnar
Day 3: Munnar
This morning we will take you to Top Station. Top Station offers panoramic view of the neighboring state of Tamil Nadu. Then to Echo point and Mattupetty Dam. Speed boating facilities are available here. The dam is flanked by forests and vast expanse of grass land on one side and the Kundala tea plantation on the other. After noon at leisure. Overnight at Munnar.
Day 4: Munnar to Periyar (wild life sanctuary & Spice plantation) (120 kms/ 3 ½ hrs).
This morning drive on to Thekkady. Proceed for a spice plantation tour and by evening at Periyar lake around which the sanctuary is built, for boating. This is the only sanctuary in India where you can have the unique experience of viewing wild life at close quarters from the safety of a boat. Overnight at Thekkady.
Day 5: Periyar to Kumarakom Backwaters
Drive to Kumarakom. By 12 noon check in at the backwater resort in Kumarakom. Afternoon at leisure. An enchanting backwater destination, Kumarakom offers visitors many leisure options like - boating and fishing. The beauty of nature amidst spectacular mangrove forests, coconut canopies, enchanting waterways and canals decked with wild lilies, adds to the beauty of its surroundings. Kumarakom is the place for people looking for a lazy and laid back holiday.
Evening visit the Kumarakom bird sanctuary. Overnight at Kumarakom.
Day 6: Kumarakom to Alleppey
By noon check in at thehouse boat in Kumarakom for a 22 hour house boating through the legendary backwaters of Kerala, to Alleppey. On the way you will witness a full range of life and activities and some mind boggling sceneries. Overnight in the house boat. House boat is a private boat with fully furnished spacious bed rooms with attached bath, private balcony, dining room, hygienic kitchen and side decks to capture the beauty of the back waters.
Day 7: Alleppey to Kochi
Get down from the houseboat and proceed to Kochi for a bit of shopping. Afternoon to the Kochi airport/ railway station for onward destination.
